Grape Variety Fruit Maturity Evaluation – September 17, 2019
The graphs and table below present fruit quality data Brix, TA, and pH from berries sampled from the West Madison Agricultural Research Station (WMARS) in Madison, WI, as of September 16th. Cultivars Brianna and Itasca were harvested the week of 9/9/19. Heavy rains experienced during 9/12-13 resulted in lower Brix readings, especially in Frontenac, probably due to dilution of sugars resulting from water uptake through the stem and berry junction zone.
