WI Fruit Grower Alert: Captan Under Review by the EPA
The EPA has opened a comment period for an alternative mitigation proposal for the fungicide captan, currently utilized by many of our WI fruit crop growers, in particular, apple, cherry and grape growers. This proposal includes changes to the restricted-entry interval (REI), application rates, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The proposed measures could significantly impact growers’ operations. I encourage you to provide comments at the link below.
Dr. Kari Peter at Penn State University authored a comprehensive and informative article outlining the proposed changes and providing information on where to submit feedback requests.
