Interested in organic fruit production, IPM, pollinators, and sustainable agriculture? The UW-Madison Wisconsin Fruit group is currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual who wishes to pursue a MS degree in sustainable organic fruit crop production. The project will assess the impact of mulches on day-neutral strawberry production, focusing on fruit quality and yield and insect pests and pollinators, and will be conducted in collaboration with researchers at the University of Minnesota.

The position will be at the University of Wisconsin in Madison jointly advised by Drs. Amaya Atucha in the Department of Horticulture and Christelle Guédot in the Department of Entomology. The Atucha and Guédot labs have very active research and extension programs and work directly with fruit growers in the state and beyond. For more information, visit the Wisconsin Fruit Program.

Qualifications: Interested candidates should possess a B.S. degree in horticulture, entomology, biology, or other related fields. The candidate is expected to work independently and within a team, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The student should be prepared to work with laboratory assays and do intensive field work. Strong work ethic and the ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time are a must. The assistantship includes an RA stipend, full tuition waiver, and health insurance benefits.
