Social wasps are starting to show up
Wasps are starting to show up, though they seem to be delayed from previous years, likely due to the cold and wet spring we experienced. At this time, populations seem to be fairly low still and should not cause any damage yet to our fruit crops. If you find a wasp nest, know of an area with a high number of wasps near you, or you are experiencing wasps in your crops or around your house, please contact Abby Lois at anlois@wisc.edu. We would be happy to take them off your hands for research purposes! We are also particularly interested to know if you have wasps in your vineyard as we are looking for sites to conduct research on attractants, repellents, and a push-pull strategy to prevent damage in grapes. Thank you!
