Grape Scouting Report: Social Wasps are Still Here
At the West Madison Research Station (WMARS), 9/30/19 was the last day of harvest for all the grapes. Wasps were still present in grapes at WMARS (Fig 1) and are still quite abundant throughout our research plots at commercial vineyards. No insect was reported from the Peninsular Ag Research station (PARS) in Door County. Please refer to previous articles on wasps, spotted-wing drosophila, and multi-colored Asian lady beetle, which are all pests common at harvest. This article will conclude our grape insect scouting report for the 2019 season. Thanks much to Andi Nelson and Annie Deutsch for their continuous scouting at the research stations and to all the growers that let us conduct research on their farm, we couldn’t do our research without you!
Happy Harvest!
